Peponi Hotel

Peponi Hotel sits at the beginning of a 14 km stretch of Shella beach on Lamu Island in the Lamu archipelago. Opened in 1967 by the Korschen family as a small four room guest house, it remains family run and has grown into a 29 room eco friendly boutique hotel whose main building is iconic on the Shella beachfront. Guests are met individually and itineraries can be tailored. Dining is available in the classic dining room, on the verandah overlooking the channel, by the pool among baobabs, on the rooftop under Balanites shade, and outside the bar under bougainvillea. Bars include Peponi's Legendary Bar, the Jahazi Bar, and a Roof Top Bar. Facilities include a freshwater free form swimming pool under baobab shade, hammocks under coconut trees, tropical gardens, massage treatments, fibre WiFi, and a reverse osmosis water maker to reduce plastic waste. Complimentary shared boat airport transfers and a daily scheduled Lamu Town motorised dhow run are included with room rates, plus a welcome drink on arrival.
